Potts Lagoon to Sointula June 16

An early start to take advantage of the ebb tide.  We are off just before 6 and backtrack through Beware Channel and into Blackfish Sound.  By 9 a.m. we were pulling into Malcolm Island Marina.  The marina is run by the local Rotary Club and is beautifully kept and inexpensive overnight moorage.

We walk about a mile into town and find Finnish Bakery run by a Chilean.  Great pastries and we don't seem to have much control.  First a savory and then a sweet.  And then down the street to Coho Joe's for a cuppa Joe.  Well done.  Beans fresh from Uclulet.  On our way back we look for the fish smoke house but later learn that the owner is out of town.  Back to the boat to get organized a bit and then back into town with electronic things in hand.  Lots of them.  Computers, Ipad, phone, Satellite communicator etc.

We stop in the very interesting museum and spend an  hour understanding the history of this very pretty Finnish village.  We wander through the library (and buy a book for friend Mary) and then head over to the Resource Center for some internet time to update maps and catch up on email.  A bit of grocery shopping in a very well-stocked Co-op grocery store and we walked back to the boat.

At the top of the dock is a great burger shack where we found fresh fish and chips for dinner.

Tomorrow we are headed for Bull Harbour and weather permitting Saturday we will cross the bar.
