Sitting out the Storm

Entrance To Miles Inlet
We consider staying put in Allison but ultimately opt to move up the coast a few miles to Miles Inlet.  We have fond memories of anchoring here two years ago and being entertained by an otter (no otter this year but an eagle does an impressive fly-by).  The storm is not forecast to hit until this afternoon so we have time to relocate.  The entrance to Miles Inlet is straight-forward but narrow.  At the tee-intersection we turn into the south arm and slowly make our way to the far end where the water is Just 6 feet deep at low low tide.  We have at least 4 feet of tide for the next 24 hours, so we drop the anchor and relax.

Re-splicing the bridle
We put "TooT" our dingy in the water and explore the inlet from end to end but do not venture into the lagoons.  We can see the rapids at the entrance and opt to wait to explore these areas until the tide is slack.  Just before slack tide, I put my kayak in the water and spend the next hour paddling into the remote corners. Barrie meanwhile works on projects on the boat.  I should feel guilty to be playing while he is hard at work - but there is plenty of time for my chores later.

We spend a second quiet night at anchor.  Tomorrow, we will listen to the weather and learn how snarky the Sound is before we decide our next move.
