Two of a Kind - Shearwater to Khutze

We have seen very few pleasure boats on this journey, many fewer than in years past.  Yes, it is still early in the season but two years ago we were in Shearwater about this time and there definitely more boats.  There were just three boats on the dock last night (including Chug), one large boat tied to the breakwater and one boat at anchor in the harbor.  It is easy to tell that the boat in the harbor is also a Krogen 42 but even with binoculars we cannot make out a name.  Barrie comments that 1% of the production is in Shearwater.

We are moving a bit slower than planned this morning and our "early" departure happens at 6:25.  As we untie lines, we see the mystery Krogen in the harbor has pulled up her anchor.  For the next couple of hours we follow Contender west through Seaforth Channel before we both turn north into Finlayson Channel.  Contender hails us on the radio and we exchange greetings.  The narrow waterways mean that we are within sight of Contender for most of the day.  They opt to stop for the night at Swanson Bay off Graham Reach and we continue on a few miles to Khutze Inlet.  Both Barrie and I recall Khutze as being a stunning inlet with snow-capped side-walls and a waterfall at the end of the inlet.  We find a sailboat anchored at the base of the falls but there is plenty of room for several more boats.  We drop our anchor in about 60 feet of water.  I also put my kayak over the side and spend an hour paddling - first to the base of the falls and then up a small river.  While the forecast is for strong winds on the coast, the water here is completely placid.

Our plan is to depart at first light tomorrow.  We have an issue with the water maker that will require us to order a replacement part.  The problem is that we need to get to a place where we can find internet service and it is definitely not here!  Prince Rupert is our closest port and it will take us most of two days to get there from here.
